Seminoe State Park

For exciting adventures on the water or on the trail, visit Seminoe State Park. The centerpiece of this park is the impressive Seminoe Reservoir, one of the largest bodies of water in the state of Wyoming. Surrounding the reservoir are hundreds of acres of sagebrush lands that support varied wildlife. Seminoe State Park is located just a short drive northeast of Rawlins, Wyoming.
Overnight use
If you are seeking to stay overnight, then Seminoe State Park offers multiple campgrounds. The North Red Hills area offers boat ramps, clean drinking water, bathrooms and the only RV dumping station in the park, and there are 30 spots available for tents and RVs. The slightly smaller South Red Hills campsite has 20 available tent spots and no RV accommodations. For more primitive sites, choose the Sunshine Beach area, a rocky shoreline filled with small coves.
Fishing opportunities
Perhaps the largest draw to Seminoe Reservoir are the unlimited sport fishing opportunities. Fishing is permitted from docks, the shoreline and from boats. Here, anglers can try their luck at wrangling in multiple species of trout and walleye. The area where the North Platte River enters Seminoe Reservoir is often referred to as the 'Miracle Mile' for the seemingly endless numbers of large trout.
Hiking and wildlife watching
For a change of pace, opt to hike one of the many trails that encircle the park. Trails are mild to strenuous and traverse the moon-like landscapes of the Seminoe Mountains. Add excitement by trying to spot the various species that survive in this harsh, sagebrush habitat. Here, you can see pronghorn antelope, sage grouse, jackrabbits and gophers.
Spend the day or the whole weekend at Seminoe State Park to experience everything this area has to offer. Whether you are a determined fisherman or an avid wildlife watcher, Seminoe is sure to have something to please.
